| 内容記述 | Of the 61 picture books in the so-called “classic picture books,” only “Suho’s White Horse” addressed death squarely. Japanese picture books are often rewritten with scenes of death and cruelty, the reason for this may be the influence of the education policy since the Meiji period and the involvement of the national character of Japanese people. From the 1970s, the number of picture books on the theme of death increased, and it is assumed that this was due to the increase in the number of suicides after the collapse of the bubble economy. Also there was also a murder in which an elementary school student was the perpetrator. Recently, while the number of suicides decreasing, especially the number of suicides young people increasing tendency, which increased the need to teach the importance of life in educational settings. The role of picture books in shaping one’s view of life and death was discussed by highlighting the similarities between “The Cat Who Lived a Million Times” were published in 1977 and have been long-time sellers.and “Suho’s White Horse,” |
